Once again a combination of ceramics and glass art during the Gouda Ceramics Festival

In view of the success of this central theme in 2012, the Gouda Ceramics Festival 2013 is once again focused on ceramics as well as glass art. Several  prominent  glass artists have been invited to present and/or to demonstrate their outstanding craftmanship on the Gouda Ceramics market. On May 9 and 10, you will have the opportunity to meet these glass artists in a special section of the market – next to the central platform.  As regards the participating ceramists, they come from all over Europe (more than 12 countries).

Much to see, much to do

Again, the Gouda Ceramics Festival programme has interesting attractions for all visitors, kids included.  Children can have fun with clay and have themselves face-painted. Or do a speed-course in throwing pots under the supervision of Thomas Benirschke from Germany. Spectacular eyecatchers are of course the contests for the tallest vase and the broadest plate, taking place both days on the central platform. And do you want to see the best works of each participating ceramist? Then you should  absolutely visit the special ceramics exhibition in the (former) Gouda Municipality building (entrance fee 1,50 Euro).  An expert jury will select the objects for the Gouda Municipal Ceramics Awards, but you will have the opportunity to select your own favourite(s)!

Supplementary art tour Central Gouda

In recent years, a number of local institutions and businesses (museums, art galleries, antique shops etc.) have actively zeroed in on the Gouda Ceramics Festival. Once again, a special art & ceramics tour has been planned for you (provided you still have some energy left after visiting the ceramics market!). This way, you will discover much more of the attractive and lovely Gouda City Centre. A list of art galleries can be obtained at the central information stand at the market place. During Friday you can also visit a special art market, located nearby the Waag building.

Welcome

It is certainly not surprising that the Gouda Ceramics Festival represents one of the major spearheads in the promotion of the City of Gouda. Also this year,  we hope to prove to you that your visit to this market, on May 9 and 10 next, will be a wonderful and charming experience. You are more than welcome!
